Apple Biggest Problem with App Lock

We all know that Apple has introduced AppLock with iOS 18 update but there are some issues with this app lock so today we are going to discuss all the issues and the way to improve the app lock security to make your AppLock Stronger

So first of all we learn how we can set app lock on any app so for this we have to  simply click and hold on the app we want to lock as we click and hold on the app we will get some option as appear below . Here I am going to lock Chrome browser

In the image we get multiple option so here we will select Require Face ID after this we will again get three option as on bellow.

Here we will select “require face ID” if we only want to lock the app and we will select “hide and require face ID” if we want to lock the app and hide the app and we will select “cancel” if we want nothing to do.

This video contains all the discussion about this post

So with the option require face ID our app will be lock and when we try to open the app it will ask to use face ID to open the app but if face ID fail to read your face then it will give you option to put your passport to access the app so this is little less secure for the user whose phone is used by their family so this is the problem that I am talking about. We will discuss in own letter.

Require face ID and hide then this option will lock the app and hide it from your home screen and the app library it will be added to the hidden folder and to access this folder we have to use face ID without face ID we can’t access hidden folder and if face ID fails to read our face then we will get an option of passcode to access the hidden folder so this is also less secure for the user whose phone is used by their family.

As we discuss above if I am an iPhone user and my family use my phone whenever they need so in this case they have knowledge about my passcode because without my passcode they can’t access my phone so I have to tell my passcode to my family to access my phone but now the passcode is available with my family so my family can access each of the locked app ,hidden folder , hidden Photos , recently Deleted and each and everything that is lock or secure with the face ID and passcode.

As we all know the iPhone only has a passcode to protect our iPhone and to lock anything in our phone. I am really afraid for this that why Apple is so much confident on their passport feature because this feature is only protect us from the other peoples but can’t protect us from our family because if we share our passport then our family access each and everything that we have secured with our phone because as we know only two option is available to lock anything in iPhone which are Face ID and Passcode but we also know that face ID can only be used by the user who have registered their face but as face ID fails to read the face the option to enter the passport is appeared each and every time so if our family have our passport so they can access easily using the passport so it is request from my side to the Apple that please use another passport for AppLock or any privacy lock app or feature that you will provide in your iOS.

Now I am going to give you an option or tell you an option that will really protect you from your family even if they have your passport but this feature also has a side effect or problem so let’s explore it and learn it

So Apple provides another option in your setting App in “face ID and Passcode” section called a “Stolen Device Protection” Before turning on this option you have to learn something that will really irritate you so before turning it on see what is going to affect your iPhone.

Stolen device protection is given for iPhone users to protect their phone from theft this option provide iPhone user 1 hour security delay restriction so if anyone snatch or theft your iPhone then they can’t change security information in your iPhone if they know your passcode means this option will provide you 1 extra hour to search your phone because this option not allow thief to change security information in your iPhone but this option will also restrict iPhone user to change their security information because this option apply 1 hour security restriction as you try to made change in security option so this option also restrict iPhone user and this become the issue for the iPhone user according to myself if a iPhone user want to change security information then after the verification of face ID Apple must allow the iPhone user to change their security information as the desire but this option don’t allow the iPhone user as well as the thief to change the security information and sometime if we need to change the passcode or any security information then a that time iPhone user has to wait for 1 hour and if user miss the notification to change the security information then he has to wait for another one hour means this option will give you notification to change your security information and if you miss that notification and user fails to change the security information then user have to wait for another one hour and this is the reason that I was telling this option is also a problematic option for iPhone user

As I have told you the problem of the option for you now I am going to tell you how this option will be helpful for you so if you turn on stolen device protection then your phone will be safe from the thief and from your family to see your private contain because this option will also restrict the use of passport in AppLock feature and many privacy protection feature this option is turn on then iPhone will not allow the use of passport on certain place like password app, recent deleted, hidden photos, lock app and lock folder this option only allowed to use face ID on this sensitive areas so this will protect your app from your family friends and your phone from thef

This is the whole story about the AppLock and stolen device protection feature in iPhone I hope this article will really help you to improve and protect yourself from your family , friends and thief
